7 Auto Insurance Discounts Seniors Forget to Claim (But Should)

4. The “Anti-Theft” Tech Update

If you drive a newer car (2018 or later), it probably has advanced safety features built-in. But does your insurance company know that?

Insurers base their rates on the VIN number, but they don’t always capture every feature. If your car has:

  • Daytime running lights
  • Anti-lock brakes (ABS)
  • An anti-theft alarm system
  • Lane departure warning

You qualify for safety equipment discounts.

Action Step: If you installed an aftermarket alarm or a GPS tracker (like LoJack), you absolutely must send proof to your insurer. They won’t know unless you tell them.
